Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Request
“The people’s right to know the process of government decision-making and to review the documents and statistics leading to determinations is basic to our society”.
This Legislative declaration is part of Article 6 of Public Officers Law which describes definitions and other general provisions relating to access to records. To make a request you must first fill out an Application Form and submit it to the Town’s Record Management Officer (RMO). On September 14, 2022, the Town Board adopted the Town of Caroline Freedom of Information Law Policy which sets forth the appointment of the RMO, identifies how to obtain such public records, and describes the appeal procedure should a request be denied.
Please note: FOIL only applies to records and does not require answers to questions.
